From 29th to 30th March 2026, a field monitoring visit was carried out to the Simpani Health Post construction site in Marsangdi Rural Municipality, Lamjung, supported by Beyond the Epicenter in partnership with Himalayan Quests Foundation. The visit focused on reviewing construction progress, quality standards, and upcoming phases of the project.
Current Progress
Construction is advancing in line with the planned schedule. The retaining wall has been completed, preparing the site for the next stage of development.
During the visit, the project coordinator worked in coordination with the contractor and technical personnel to review both the quality and quantity of work. The construction meets required standards and continues to be closely supervised by the Health Post Development Committee and the assigned technical officer. This ongoing oversight ensures that the infrastructure is built to be safe, durable, and fit for long-term community use.
Next Phase
The project is now entering a critical stage, with foundation work for the main building scheduled to begin shortly. This phase will mark visible structural progress and move the project closer to delivering essential healthcare services to the local community.
Challenges Encountered
As with many projects in remote regions, implementation has not been without challenges.
Unseasonal rainfall during this period affected the transportation of construction materials, particularly along off-road sections leading to the site. Limited access near the construction area required temporary road improvements, including concreting, resulting in an estimated two-week delay in construction activities.
In addition, rising costs of construction materials driven in part by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are creating pressure on procurement and overall project budgeting.
Looking Ahead
Despite these challenges, the project remains on track, supported by strong coordination between local stakeholders, technical teams and implementation partners.
The Simpani Health Post represents a meaningful investment in improving access to basic healthcare services in Marsangdi Rural Municipality. Once completed, it will serve as a vital resource for the community, contributing to better health outcomes and increased resilience in the region.
Beyond the Epicenter remains committed to supporting locally led initiatives that create tangible, long-term impact, and this partnership-driven project in Lamjung reflects that continued commitment.
