After a long, slow and protracted process, the Nepali government permissions have finally come through for the rebuild of new classroom buildings for two schools in Sindhuli, Shree Bhimsen Primary School and Shree Janajyoti Lower Secondary School.
Three and half years on from the 2015 devastating earthquake and some of the kids in these schools are still in make-shift bamboo classrooms leaving them exposed to the elements, as now the emergency period is well and truly over, the plight of these small, rural government schools is all but forgotten.
We are excited to finally be moving forward with these rebuild projects and are grateful that the permissions have arrived in line with the withdrawal of the monsoon rains, so that work can crack on and good progress can hopefully be made before the country grinds to a halt to celebrate it’s two biggest festivals in October and November, Dashain and Tihar.
