BEYOND THE EPICENTER EXPLAINED

On April 25th 2015 a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Nepal, bringing destruction and devastation to thousands of people. Hundreds of subsequent aftershocks, and especially the 6.9 magnitude shock on the 12th May, turned even more homes, schools and community buildings to rubble. The direct impact of the 2015 earthquake was: 8,959 people killed; 2.8 million people affected; 26,272 people displaced; 765 health facilities destroyed or damaged, and 35,000 classrooms destroyed or damaged (UNICEF, Nepal Earthquakes: One Year Later. Moving On)

Jerry Wishner and his family has partnered with Community Foundation of New Jersey, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the United States. Together with the Wishner family, collectively known as the Wishner5, they raise money to rebuild earthquake damaged and destroyed classrooms across Nepal. Himalayan Quests Foundation is our local partner on the ground in Nepal, organizing and coordinating each rebuild program.
